UDUTH SEEKS REGULATORY GUIDANCE FOR ITS NUCLEAR MEDICINE FACILITY

In its strive to continually serve the interest of Licensees and other Nigerians and provide stakeholders with an opportunity to be heard in accordance with the prescribed rules of procedure, the Director General of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), Dr Yau Idris received the Chief Medical Director of the Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto, Dr Anas Ahmad Sabir in his office in Abuja on 4th February 2021.

The DG expressed his delight at the visit and commended the hospital management on its continuous efforts in ensuring compliance of its facilities with NNRA’s regulatory requirements and always seeking advice and guidance from the Authority.

He stated NNRA’s readiness to effectively regulate facilities across the country to ensure safety. He assured the CMD that NNRA will cooperate with UDUTH to ensure it is properly guided in its nuclear medicine facility licensing process as the establishment of that center will be of immense service to patients in the North-West zone and the entire country at large.

Dr Anas Sabir on his part expressed appreciation to the DG and other Management staff of NNRA for the warm reception and stated that their visit was primarily to update the Authority on the progress made by the hospital to establish a Nuclear Medicine facility and seek guidance on the process required to ensure that the project satisfies regulatory requirements of the Authority, as this will ensure its smooth kick off and safety of both staff and patients.

In attendance at the meeting were other Management staffs of NNRA and Mr Sanusi Musa of UDUTH.
