Mr. Mohammed Usman Audu hails from Etsako East Local Government Area and was born in the ancient City of Benin in Edo State. He is an experienced Regulator and one of the pioneer Regulatory Officers of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority who joined the Authority in 2002. He has worked through the ranks of the NNRA and has served as the pioneer Zonal Coordinator for the South West Zonal Office, Lagos. He was later transferred to head the Technical Division and then proceeded to serve as the Zonal Coordinator of the NNRA’s South-South Zonal Office, Port Harcourt. Subsequently, he was promoted to the position of General Manager of the Department of Nuclear Research Reactor Safety and Safeguards to serve as the pioneer General Manager of the Department. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Physics and a Master’s Degree in Radiation and Health Physics from the University of Benin, Benin City, and the University of Ibadan, Ibadan respectively. He has attended several trainings, workshops, and meetings within and outside the country. The officer has a Postgraduate Diploma in Radiation Protection and a Ph.D. in Environmental Impact Assessment (Radiological Impact) and Remediation from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and the University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt respectively. He is hardworking with a penchant for excellence and uniqueness. His interest is in nuclear and radiation safety, safeguards, and non-proliferation.
