
The NNRA South-South Zonal Office, led by the Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Vincent-Furo Evelyn, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the 115 Special Operations Group of the Nigerian Air Force, Group Captain A. A. Opaleye on 29th May, 2025 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The visit aimed to foster mutual understanding and explore potential areas of collaboration between the NNRA and the 115 Special Operations Group, particularly in capacity building and training. Discussions focused on strengthening regulatory compliance across Air Force Base facilities, specifically the Radiology Department of the Air Force Reference Hospital and the baggage scanning systems of airlines and helicopter operators at the Port Harcourt Air Force Base heliport (Air Strips).
Mrs. Vincent-Furo Evelyn expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Nigerian Air Force. She underscored NNRA’s critical role in safeguarding lives, property, and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. She expressed optimism that the visit would strengthen inter-agency cooperation and pave way for long-term partnerships.
Group Captain A. A. Opaleye, the Commander, thanked the NNRA team for their visit and reaffirmed the Air Force's commitment to environmental and human safety. He pledged to facilitate access to forthcoming lectures and base activities, address regulatory concerns relating to the base’s facilities, and support ongoing capacity building and collaboration between both institutions.
