SOUTH-SOUTH ZONAL OFFICE VISITS IMO STATE COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH

The South-South Zonal Office of the NNRA led by its coordinator, Mrs. Evelyn Vincent-Furo paid a scheduled visit to the Imo State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Prosper Ohayagha- Success, on 11^th June, 2024 in Owerri, Imo State.

The visit aimed to create synergy and enhance the working relationship with Imo State especially on bringing all hospitals using X-rays under regulatory control to safeguard lives, properties and the environment.

Mrs. Furo stated that in order to achieve maximum protection and safety of lives, property and the environment from ionizing radiation, there was need to seek collaboration with the State Government through the Ministry of Health to ensure all concerned facilities in the state are brought under regulatory control. She requested the Ministry’s collaboration with NNRA to ensure smooth delivery of its mandate which will enhance the economic growth of the country.

Dr. Ohayagha-Success submitted that the visit was timely and appreciated the authority for the gesture. He observed that some facilities that use lead lining prefer to do short circuits hence endangering the lives of citizens. He said it is important to set up a sensitization campaign on all platforms where NNRA will be invited to speak about its activities and enlighten the general public. He assured the coordinator of his support to ensure compliance of facilities in the state.
