The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) in Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) Branch held its 3rd Triennial Branch Conference themed; “Building Effective Nuclear Regulatory System in Nigeria, Challenges and Way Forward” in Abuja Nigeria on 8th December, 2020.
The conference which is the third in the series saw the emergence of the new NNRA Branch executives who will hold forth the affairs of the union for the next three (3) years.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Slyva, while declaring the occasion open stated that the Ministry of Petroleum Resources (MPR) is a strong partner of PENGASSAN and is collaborating closely with the Union to ensure industrial harmony in the oil and gas sector. He added that the commitment and efforts of the MPR towards ensuring greater job security and improved welfare for members of PENGASSAN, while also maintaining a balance between fiscal responsibility and profitability for socio economic development remains unshakable.
He called on PENGASSAN members in the Authority to align and cooperate with the new Executives to enable the repositioning of NNRA PENGASSAN to greatness and to deliver on its mission. He hoped for successful conference and an outcome that will sustain and strengthen the effectiveness of Nigeria’s regulatory infrastructure for nuclear safety and security.
The DG/CEO NNRA Dr. Yau Idris appreciated the Hon. Minister for gracing the occasion. He also appreciated the Ministry and the entire PENGASSAN Officials for obliging to its request for meetings and for their prompt interventions on matters of the Authority especially those that concerns the welfare of members. He urged the members to exercise patience and ensure that they perform their constitutional rights and vote wisely.
In attendance also were, the PENGASSAN National Executives, PENGASSAN Kaduna Zone Executives, Managements of NNRA and NNRA PENGASSAN Members.
