NNRA ZONAL COORDINATOR FOR SOUTH-SOUTH VISITS RIVERS STATE COMMISSIONER OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

The Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Evelyn Vincent-Furo in a bid to raise awareness for NNRA paid a courtesy visit to the Rivers State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Honorable Warisenibo Joseph Johnson on 22^nd July, 2024.

The visit was used to solicit for collaboration with the State Ministry in sensitizing the public on the activities, roles and responsibilities of the NNRA, highlighting the regulatory practices involving ionizing radiation and nuclear materials to further ensure that more facilities are brought under regulatory control.

Mrs. Furo thanked the Commissioner for obliging the NNRA SSZO with the visit as it was important to get the support of the State Ministry of Information in creating awareness about the NNRA through a broader forum.

She thereafter gave a summary of the mandate of the Authority and called for a good working relationship with the State Ministry of Information in the area of protection of lives, health, properties and the environment through publicity, radio jingles and TV commercials, campaigns and sensitizations.

The Commissioner of Information Mr. Johnson welcomed the visiting team and acknowledged the importance of a collaboration between both institutions to ensure adequate knowledge is passed to the public and assured that the Ministry will work hand in hand with NNRA to achieve good publicity and service delivery within the state.
