NNRA TRAINS HER REGULATORY OFFICERS

Management of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) organized a Two week Basic Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Training for her regulators from 6th - 17th of September, 2021 at Top Rank Hotel Galaxy, Jabi Abuja. Similar trainings are concurrently taking place in Kano and Lagos.

The training is aimed at equipping new and upcoming regulators of the Authority to be competent in the authorization and inspection of radiation sources so as to perform the role of an effective radiation safety and security regulators.

The DG/CEO Dr. Yau Idris, while addressing the participants at the opening ceremony stated that the training is expected to educate the Regulators which will in turn increase productivity and the internally generated revenue of the Authority. He urged the participants to take the training seriously so as to improve on their job performances and portray the NNRA brand in a good and professional manner.

The trainings are conducted by consultants who are vast in Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Regulation, of which two of them were former Directors with NNRA; Dr. (Mrs) Modupe Oresegun and Professor T. C. Akpan.

Presentations were made on Original Equipment Manufacturer in the area of radiation detection, radioactive sources regulation in line with the Code of Conduct and its supplementary Guidance.

The trainings is attended by 60 participants in Abuja, 35 in Kano and 30 in Lagos. The participants are new NNRA staff who were recruited within the last two years. They were drawn from the Nuclear Safety, Radiological Safety and the International Cooperation Units of the Authority.
