The Workshop aimed at introducing and training staff on the different types of handheld radiation detection equipment used by regulators in detecting ionizing radiation during radiological survey and inspection. The training will also equip personnels with basic knowledge of operating the handheld passive and active radiation detection instrument.

The Director General of NNRA, Dr Yau Idris who was represented by Mr. Adamu Hussein, General Manager, Authorisation and Enforcement Department charged participants to take the training seriously as it would be of immense benefit to them while carrying out their duties and the Authority at large.

He further said that having sound knowledge of the use of the equipment and hands-on experience in operating the handheld detectors is critical for effective output especially while taking radiation measurements and will enhance the generation of accurate data for regulatory decisions.
