NNRA TAKES NUCLEAR AWARENESS TO SCHOOLS

The  NNRA on Monday, October 13, 2025, held a School Outreach Programme at Government Secondary School, Garki, Abuja, to commemorate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR). The event, themed around promoting nuclear technology awareness and disaster preparedness, brought together NNRA officials led by Mr. Lanre Adeoye, General Manager, Administration and Human Resources, alongside school management, teachers, NGOs, and enthusiastic students eager to learn about nuclear safety and national development.

Representing the DG/CEO, Mr. Adeoye emphasized the importance of engaging young minds on the peaceful applications of nuclear technology, noting that early exposure fosters a generation of informed Nigerians who understand nuclear benefits, safety measures, and opportunities within the sector. The outreach featured interactive sessions and multimedia demonstrations that simplified complex concepts like radiation, nuclear energy, and safety practices, creating an engaging learning experience.

The initiative forms part of NNRA’s continuous effort to promote safety culture, disaster risk reduction, and public awareness of its mandate to protect people and the environment from harmful effects of ionizing radiation. The school expressed appreciation for the impactful programme, which reached over 100 students and inspired interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), especially among young girls.
