The Ogun State Operational Office of the NNRA paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Federal Mines Officer-in-Charge, Ogun State, as part of its commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration and promoting radiation safety within Nigeria’s mining sector. The visit provided an opportunity to deepen partnerships, enhance awareness of radiation safety, and advance regulatory compliance in mining operations.
During the meeting, the Head of the Ogun State Operational Office, Mr. Adewara Taiye Israel, delivered a presentation on the occurrence of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) in mining activities, the importance of timely reporting of radioactive sources, and the need for effective radiation protection measures. He emphasized that sustained collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance are essential for protecting lives, property, and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
Receiving the delegation, the Federal Mines Officer-in-Charge, Engr. Ojediran Abimbola, reaffirmed his office’s commitment to working closely with the NNRA. Both organizations agreed to strengthen collaboration through joint awareness programmes, stakeholder engagement, and initiatives aimed at promoting radiation safety and regulatory compliance across the mining sector.
