NNRA-SSZO VISITS ABIA STATE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE

The South-South Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Evelyn Vincent-Furo on behalf of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) visited the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie at the Abia State Command of the Nigerian Police Force on 13^th June, 2024.

The visit was to create awareness of the mandate and activities of the NNRA in order to build a partnership with the Abia State Police Command and seek assistance when carrying out its duties especially enforcement actions on non-compliant facilities.

Mrs. Evelyn Vincent-Furo, while briefing the Commissioner, highlighted the activities of the NNRA and how it ensures the protection of lives, property and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. She said, “NNRA is committed to collaborating with the force in the area of safety and security of the populace against the harmful uses of ionizing radiation especially in the South-South region.”

She solicited an opportunity to showcase NNRA’s roles and responsibilities to the high-ranking officers to enable them to have a better understanding of the activities of the Authority and support the authority to achieve its mandate.

The Commissioner of Police, in his response, commended the Authority for its efforts in sensitizing the public and pledged the command’s support to ensure safety and security in the region.
