NNRA SOUTH EAST ZONE SHOWCASES MILESTONES AT WEEKLY SEMINAR

The South East Zonal Office of the NNRA showcased its key activities and achievements during the NNRA Weekly In-House Seminar held on 8th October 2025. The presentation was delivered by the Acting Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Ekene Efienemokwu.

In his presentation, Mr. Efienemokwu outlined the zonal office’s engagements with major stakeholders, including the Enugu and Ebonyi State Commissioners for Health and the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources. These engagements centered on meetings with facilities using radiation equipment, participation in discussions on new hospital construction projects, and collaborations aimed at strengthening NNRA’s visibility in miners’ associations.

He also highlighted the inspection and enforcement activities carried out across 159 radiation facilities in Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi States. A breakdown of the figures shows that diagnostic radiology remains the dominant practice with 144 facilities, while other categories include radiotherapy (2), baggage scanners (10), and nuclear gauges (3).

Mr. Efienemokwu expressed appreciation to the staff of the South East Zonal Office for their dedication and teamwork. He emphasized the need to sustain the momentum through continuous stakeholder engagement and compliance monitoring to uphold NNRA’s mission of ensuring safety and security in the use of ionizing radiation across the zone.
