NNRA SOUTH-EAST ZONAL OFFICE INSPECTS DIAGNOSTIC FACILITIES IN AWKA

The NNRA, through its South-East Zonal Office, conducted regulatory inspections of diagnostic facilities in Awka, Anambra State, as part of its ongoing oversight of medical facilities that use ionizing radiation. The exercise aimed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote the protection of patients, radiation workers and the public.

At APEX Diagnostic Centre, the inspection team assessed the facility’s radiation safety practices, regulatory authorization, diagnostic imaging equipment, quality control measures, shielding, personnel monitoring and other applicable NNRA requirements. The team also inspected Graceland International Hospital, reviewing its use of ionizing radiation and measures in place to ensure safety, while engaging management on regulatory requirements and safe diagnostic practices. Through these inspections, the NNRA helps ensure that healthcare facilities maintain safe equipment, proper protective measures and competent practices, ultimately safeguarding patients and healthcare workers.
