NNRA SHUTS DOWN ERRING FACILITIES IN NIGER STATE

A team of inspectors from Kwara State Operational Office carried out an enforcement exercise on Two non-compliant facilities in Niger State on 24^th July, 2023. The team comprised of senior regulators from NNRA, officers of the Nigerian Police Force and Nigerian Civil Defence Corps. The facilities shut down were; Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Specialist Hospital, Chanchaga Minna and General Hospital Minna.

The facilities were sealed up for non-compliance to regulatory requirements and failure to implement corrective actions despite several warnings from the Authority. The enforcement exercise is part of NNRA’s mandate backed by section 32 of the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Act No. 19 of 1995.
