NNRA REVIEWS MOU WITH UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN

The Management of National Institute of Radiation Protection and Research (NIRPR) Ibadan, on behalf of NNRA presented the reviewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the Physics Department of University of Ibadan on May, 31st 2021.

The Institute is a technical arm of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) that is responsible for training, research, safety, security and radiation protection in the country thus ensuring best practices that meets with the international standards in the peaceful application of nuclear energy.

  • The aim of the MoU is to define areas of fundamental interest in teaching and research in which the parties desire to work together for their mutual benefits
  • To foster a collaborative framework between the NNRA and the University of Ibadan in the defined areas with a view of benefitting from each other’s initiative and competencies
  • To strengthen the Institute to enable  the effective discharge of its functions as envisaged in the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Act
  •  To support the University to enable the effective discharge of national and international responsibilities as spelt out in the Act that established it.

The Acting Head of the Institute, Dr. S. M. Oyeyemi, while presenting the reviewed MoU, appreciated the academia for being a supportive partner. He said that the institute’s laboratories are accessible to students and lecturers of the University to use whenever the need arises.

The representative of the University of Ibadan and Head of Physics Department, Professor Awe  Ezekiel received the MoU on behalf of the University and assured the Institute of their unflinching support and collaboration at all times.

Also present to witness this note worthy occasion were Professor Janet Adepeju Ademola, Prof Farai Idowu, Mr Wasiu Abdulganiyu, and Mr Jacob Alabi from the University of Ibadan.
