NNRA RECEIVES POSTAL DOSE QUALITY AUDIT RESULT FROM IAEA/WHO

The National Institute of Radiation Protection and Research (NIRPR), a technical support arm of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), participated in the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) and World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Postal Dose Quality Audit Service.

The exercise was conducted for the Secondary Standard Dosimetry Level SSDL(s), Radiotherapy Level Dosimetry (RLD) and  Radio-Photo Luminescent Dosimeter (RPLD) on 8th August, 2021 for facilities all over the world.

It is worthy of note that NNRA passed the intercomparison (Postal / Audit) test which indicates that NNRA falls within the required acceptable limit for radiation therapy level dosimetry internationally.

The above result and certification meant that the NIRPR calibration equipment is of international standard. The NIRPR calibrates ionizing radiation equipment used by radiation users in Nigeria.
