NNRA PLAYED HOST TO NYGN REPRESENTATIVES

The DG/CEO, Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) Dr. Yau Idris, received representatives of the Nigerian Young Generation in Nuclear (NYGN) to a courtesy visit on 8th June, 2022 at his Office in Abuja.

The NYGN is a non-governmental organization with the mission to support all aspects of nuclear science and technology, and to cultivate interest amongst young minds in Nigeria, Africa and Globally in the field through education and promotional activities.

The visit was to seek for the Authority’s collaboration and participation in the forth coming NYGN global event tagged “Nuclear Walk” scheduled to hold 17th & 18th June, 2022 in Abuja and to officially confer the DG with the mantle of Patronship of the NYGN.

President of NGYN, Mr. Jeremiah Mbazor while speaking, submitted that the Organization recognizes the NNRA as the key agency in nuclear regulations in Nigeria. He extolled the Authority’s laudable activities in educating the public on the peaceful uses of nuclear technology, hence the need to seek collaboration and proper guidance in covering nuclear activities in Nigeria. He hoped that, this collaboration will be a great fit for the nation and the nuclear world at large.

The DG/CEO NNRA, Dr. Yau Idris, having accepted the Patronship, appreciated the NYGN for recognizing his contributions and finding him worthy of the award. He commended the Organization for its relentless efforts in following up the development of nuclear technology nationally and internationally. He remarked that, there is need to put hands together to awaken the interest of younger generation in nuclear science and technology through proper awareness and education.

He assured the NYGN of his unflinching support to drive the purpose of the nuclear industry towards achieving the set goals.

The NYGN presented the DG/CEO NNRA with the plaque of Patronship. Also present at the event were, the General Manager, Nuclear Safety, Physical Security and Safeguards Department, Dr. Nasiru Bello, Deputy General Manager, Radiological Safety Department, Mr. Faruk Ingawa and some other Staff of the Authority.
