NNRA PLAYED HOST TO EXPLOSIVE ORDINANCE DEPARTMENT

The South East Zonal Office of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) played host to the Head of Explosive Ordinance Department Squad (EOD) Enugu State Command, Commander Okpala Kenechukwu on 4^th February, 2022 .

The purpose of the visit was to ascertain the level of competence displayed by the Antibomb squad officers deployed to NNRA to provide security for the technical staff during inspection and to re- establish the cordial working relationship between the Authority and Antibomb Squad

The Zonal Coordinator of SEZO, Mr. Charles Ajaero, on behalf of the DG and Management of NNRA, highlighted the mandate of NNRA as enshrined in the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection the Act No. 19 of 1995 which is the responsibility for Nuclear Safety and Radiological Protection in Nigeria.

He commended the squad for the visit and its involvement during inspections and Enforcement Activities to facilities that failed to comply with regulatory requirement. He however noted that the squad should bear arms while on duty for maximum protection against theft.
