NNRA PARTICIPATES IN SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE OF THE NIGERIAN CARDIAC SOCIETY

The Director General/CEO of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), Dr. Yau Idris, was represented by the Zonal Coordinator of the South-South Office, Mrs. Evelyn Vincent-Furo, at the opening ceremony of the 53rd  Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Nigerian Cardiac Society (NCS) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on September 11, 2024.

This year’s conference, organized by the Nigerian Cardiac Society (NCS), focused on the theme “Socio-economic Burden of Rising Cardiovascular Disease Profile in Sub-Saharan Africa.” The event aimed to address the growing challenges posed by congenital heart disease, environmental pollution, and to offer solutions for Sub-Saharan Africa. The conference also included the induction of associate and full members, as well as the convocation of fellows of the Nigerian Cardiac Society, symbolizing a call to serve in the care of heart health.

Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the DG, Mrs. Vincent-Furo thanked the NCS for their invaluable contributions to society and took the opportunity to introduce the role of the NNRA. She urged the NCS and other healthcare institutions to continue their excellent work and encouraged further collaborations with the NNRA through programs and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements involving ionizing radiation practices.
