NNRA PARTICIPATES IN IAEA EXPERT MISSION ON NIGERIA’S NUCLEAR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

The NNRA participated in the Phase II Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) Expert Mission organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in collaboration with the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC).

The mission holds in Abuja from 23–27 February 2026, will assess Nigeria’s readiness for the deployment of a proposed Multipurpose Research Reactor (MPRR) under the IAEA Milestones Approach.

As Nigeria’s nuclear regulatory authority, NNRA contributed to discussions on regulatory preparedness, safety oversight, licensing frameworks, and compliance with international standards.

The engagement underscores NNRA’s commitment to ensuring the safe, secure, and peaceful use of nuclear technology while strengthening regulatory infrastructure in line with global best practices.
