NNRA ORGANISES A FIVE DAY NATIONAL TRAINING COURSE FOR REGULATORS

The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) on 25th of July, 2022 organized a Five-Day National Training Course(NTC) for Regulators on Inspection and Authorization of Radiation Sources at Luton Park Hotel, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The NTC was aimed at enabling participants with the understanding of the concepts of inspection and authorization of radiation sources in line with best practices and the mandates/needs of the NNRA.

The Director General/CEO, Dr  Yau Idris, who was ably represented by the South-South Zonal Coordinator Mr.  Audu Mohammad welcomed the resource persons and the participants to the NTC.  He described the training as a remarkable event aimed at exposing the participants on the basic concepts of inspection and authorization of radiation sources in line with world best practices. Mr. Mohammad urged them to make good use of this opportunity and hoped that by the end of the training session, participants will come out better equipped to discharge their duties effectively.

The resource persons for the training were: The South-South Zonal Coordinator, Mr Audu Mohammad; The Operational Head, Akwa Ibom Operational Office, Mrs. Ememobong Essien; and Mr. Mfon Ebong from Authorization and Enforcement Department, Headquarters, Abuja.

17 Participants were drawn from the NNRA Headquarters, North East Zonal Office Gombe, Akwa Ibom Operational Office, Kano Operational Office and Kwara state Operational Office.

The training ended on Friday, with an assessment test using 45 multiple choice questions covering all courses undertaken during the training and all participants were successful.
