NNRA MEETS WITH GOMBE STATE COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH

The North East Operational Office of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) Gombe, held a meeting with the Honorable Commissioner of Health Dr. Ahmed Mohammad Gana, on 13^th October, 2020.

The meeting centered on encouraging facilities in the state to comply with regulatory requirements of the Authority to ensure the protection of life, health and the environment from the harmful  effect of ionizing radiation.

It aimed at ensuring that there is compliance on regulatory requirement for medical apparatus that emits radiation for importers, suppliers, maintenance engineers and other radiation employers.

The Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Sanusi Attah while briefing the Commissioner stated that engaging the service of Radiation Safety Adviser (RSA) and Dosimeter Service Provider (DSP) for proper monitoring of facilities under the Ministry cannot be overemphasized in order to achieve best result. He advised that a quality control test be carried out on all radiation equipments in the state to ensure safety and protection of life from harmful radiological practices in the state

The state Commissioner of Health Dr. Gana, commended the good work done by NNRA and appreciated the working relationship between Authority and the Ministry. He assured NNRA of his support in ensuring that facilities comply with regulatory requirements in order to promote safety culture in the states.
