NNRA MANAGEMENT RECEIVES NEWLY APPOINTED NAEC CHAIRMAN

The Management of the NNRA received the newly appointed Chairman of the Nigerian Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), Engr. Dr. Anthony I.G. Ekedegwa, on a courtesy visit to the Authority’s Headquarters in Abuja.

The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening collaboration in advancing the peaceful, safe, and secure application of nuclear technology in Nigeria.

Speaking during the visit, Engr. Dr. Ekedegwa expressed appreciation for the warm reception and called for closer collaboration, mutual support, and sustained regulatory guidance to advance Nigeria’s nuclear programme, particularly in preparation for the 2027 European Union (EU) Mission.

In his remarks, the DG/ CEO of the NNRA, Dr. Yau Idris, congratulated the NAEC Chairman on the confirmation of his appointment and reiterated the importance of sustained synergy between both agencies, noting that while the NAEC promotes the peaceful application of nuclear technology, the NNRA regulates its safe, secure, and peaceful use.

Dr. Idris also assured the Commission of the NNRA’s full support towards the successful hosting of the 2027 EU Mission through the deployment of the necessary technical expertise and operational mechanisms.
