The 5th National Council on Hydrocarbon has ended in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State. The event themed “The gas potentials of Nigeria: Optimizing the gas value chain” was organized by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources (MPR) from 23rd through to 26th November, 2020.
The Council which is an ombudsman that meets once a year to review policies in the oil and gas sector is the 5th in its series and is targeted at business people, oil sector, oil communities and ministries that are directly or indirectly affected by the policies of the Ministry.
In his address the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Petroleum Resources Mr. Bitrus Nabasu, remarked that the theme for this year’s edition was well thought-out and apt for the moment since the event is aimed at garnering ideas that will propel good policy formulation in the oil and gas sector with a view to realizing the numerous benefits inherent in hydrocarbons, for the development and diversification of the economy.
Mr. Bitrus Nabasu also presided over the technical sessions which witnessed receipt of multiple memorandums and deliberations from State Governments and MDAS’ from both Federal and State Government.
The DG/CEO NNRA Dr. Yau Idris was accompanied by designated delegates to the event.
The event was graced by the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State and his Deputy, Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Directors and Chief Executive Officers of Oil and Gas Companies, Hon. Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries of relevant state MDAs and key Stakeholders in the Oil and Gas Sector.
