A one day meeting of the Consultative Committee on Petroleum Statistics (CCPS) was hosted by the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) at Vichi Gate Hotel and Suites, Mabushi Abuja on 24th March 2021.
The CCPS was set up by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources (MPR) to ensure a uniform, standard, methodology and harmonization of data in Oil and Gas industry in Nigeria.
The meeting was to deliberate, plan and provide appropriate data for the progress of the oil and gas sector and the nation at large. It aims to emphasize the importance of statistics as a backbone of proper planning in the sector.
Speaking at the 45th edition of the meeting, General Manager, Admin and Finance Mr. Mathias Vyonku, who represented the DG/CEO commended the rotation of hosting the quarterly meeting among participating MDAs and opined that it will further strengthen the bond between MPR and its Agencies.
He stated that CCPS has conducted a survey on Gas and Petroleum Products demand, supply and utilization in Nigeria and intends to generate statistical data necessary to formulate options for sustainable development of the oil and gas sector in Nigeria.
Mr Vyonku appreciated the collective efforts of the committee and promised that the authority will continue to give its support and cooperation to enhance and actualize the MPR objectives.
