Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) hosted Officials from the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Authority’s National Nuclear Security Coordination Centre (NNSCC) on the 22nd of June, 2023 in Abuja.
The meeting centered on introducing nuclear security modules in the Curriculum of DSS training institutions to ensure all personnel that go through the institutions at recruitment point or during refresher courses are equipped with the basic knowledge of nuclear security which will reduce the current challenge of transferring trained officers in the area of nuclear security and replacing them with untrained ones.
The DG/CEO, Dr. Yau Idris, at the meeting stated that NNRA was created to ensure protection of lives, health and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation and NNSCC through NNRA was also established to develop a sustainable and effective human resource capacity through the provision and implementation of national nuclear security training program to meet the requirements of the national nuclear security regime.
