NNRA CONDUCTS NATIONAL TRAINING COURSE FOR HER REGULATORY OFFICERS

The Management of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) organized a two-week National Training Course on Regulatory Control and Safety Evaluation of Application for Licensing Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) for her regulators from 27th September - 8th October 2021 in Abuja.

This National Training Course (NTC) on Regulatory Control of NPPs, is in line with the Authority’s strategic focus aimed at prioritizing development of national capabilities for safety evaluation of application for licensing NPPs in Nigeria.

The DG/CEO Dr. Yau Idris, while addressing the participants stated that the training is the second in the series and is meant to consolidate the knowledge gained during the Basic Professional Training Course on Nuclear Safety held in 2020. He also stated that the main aim is to provide technical support to the Authority’s regulatory officers on;

  1.  Regulatory Organization
  2.  Regulatory Guidance
  3.  Licensing and licensing Documents
  4.  Assessment of Safety
  5.  Regulation Inspection and Enforcement.

The DG/CEO however urged the participants to take the training seriously in order to improve their job performances and enhance the general service delivery of the Authority to its esteemed stakeholders.

The training is attended by 41 participants across the Head Office, Zonal and State Offices which are staff of Nuclear Safety, Physical Security & Safe-guards, Radiological Safety and Authorization and Enforcement Departments of the Authority.
