NNRA CONDUCTS INSPECTION ON DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY FACILITIES IN NORTHWEST NIGERIA

In line with the Authority’s mandate of ensuring safe application of ionizing radiation and protection of life, property and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation, the Northwest Zonal office carried out a Compliance Inspection on the under listed Diagnostic Radiology Facilities in Zamfara and Kebbi States from 16^th March, to 2^nd April 2021 respectively.

Compliance Inspections are carried out to ensure that patients and operators in all diagnostic facilities in Nigeria are protected against excessive exposure to ionizing radiation; thus facilities are expected to comply with all the requirements enshrined in the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Act 19 of 1995, Nigerian Basic Ionization Radiation Regulation, 2003 and the Nigerian Radiation Safety in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Regulations, 2006.
