NNRA CLAMPS DOWN ERRING FACILITIES IN ENUGU

A Team of Inspectors from South East Zonal Office (SEZO) carried out an enforcement exercise on a few non-compliant facilities in Enugu State on 26^th April, 2023. The Team comprised of experienced Regulators from the SEZO, Legal Officer and Information and Protocol Unit officer. The Team was joined by the officers from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Police Explosive and Ordinance Department (EOD) Anti bomb squad to ensure a hitch free exercise. The facilities shut down including; Enugu State University Teaching Hospital Parklane; Niger Foundation Hospital; Conquest Diagnostic Centre; Mother of Christ and Ntasiobi Ndi No N’Afufu Catholic hospital.

The facilities were sealed for non-compliance to regulatory requirements and failure to implement corrective action despite several warnings from the Authority. The enforcement exercise is part of the NNRA’s mandate backed by Section 32 of the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection, Act No.19 of 1995.
