The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) celebrated the World Safety Day with the Association for Occupational Safety and Health of Nigeria (OSHA) on 28th April, 2021 at SGF Hall, Federal Secretariat, Phase 1 CBD, Abuja.
OSHA is an independent academy and professional institution with global and regional chapters dedicated to supporting individuals and corporate organizations around the world in achieving Zero accident at the workplaces.
The high point of the Safety Day Celebration was the inauguration of committee members from various MDAs, Private Organizations, Health and Safety Advocates and Ambassadors to help advocate for maximum safety in our society
The Authority was represented by the Manager Information and Protocol Unit of the Organization, Mrs Ekaette Bassey, who in a goodwill message, stated that NNRA’s core mandate is to ensure protection of life, health, property and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation and as such safety consciousness and training is paramount to NNRA.
She said ‘’the importance of safety in every facets of human life and the environment cannot be over emphasized’’ and thus encouraged all participants to take safety very important.
The event focused on promoting safety consciousness in workplaces, homes, schools, markets and other public places with the ultimate goal of achieving significant reduction in the occurrence of accidents and fatalities in the country.
