NNRA CARRIES OUT ENFORCEMENT ACTION IN THE FCT

A team of NNRA Inspectors from the Authority’s Headquarters Abuja carried out enforcement exercise on non–compliant medical facilities in the Federal Capital Territory from 18th – 22nd May, 2023.

The team led by Barrister Jamil Salau comprised of experienced Regulators, Legal Officer, Information and Protocol Unit Officer and a team of Officers from the Nigerian Police and Department of State Services (DSS) to ensure a hitch free exercise.

The enforcement actions were carried out on the following facilities in Abuja; Silhouette Diagnostic Consultant Wuse-II, Kings Care Hospital and Abuja Clinics.

The enforcement action was as a result of these facilities’ refusal to subject their practices under regulatory control. The enforcement action resulted in the sealing-off, of their X-ray & CT Scan Units of the Hospitals, where various functional radiological equipments are operated.

The action was aimed at ensuring the protection of patients, workers and the general public from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation and to emphasize the importance of compliance with regulatory requirements.

The Enforcement action will be a continuous exercise in the FCT and other States of the Federation.
