NNRA ATTENDS THE 15TH EDITION OF THE PMB ADMINISTRATION SCORECARD

The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) attended the 15th Edition of the “PMB Administration Scorecard Series (2015 – 2023)” for the Ministry of Petroleum Resources on the 9th of January 2023. This was held at the National Press Center Abuja and coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture.

The scorecard series, inaugurated since 18th October, 2022, has featured 16 Ministers and more to come in its bid to showcase the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s (PMB) administration.

The Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (MPR), Chief Timipriye Silver outlined the achievements of the PMB administration in the petroleum industry. In his address, the Minister highlighted some strategic priorities of the sector which included eradicating smuggling of petroleum products across Nigerian borders, completing the gas flare commercialization program, increasing crude oil production to 3 million barrels per day, reducing the cost of crude oil extraction by at least five per cent, boosting private sector partnership to increase domestic refining capacity, creating jobs and eradicating poverty.

He added that activities and efforts from the various agencies under the Ministry such as NMDPRA, NCDMB, NNRA, PTDF, PTI, NURPC and NNPC Ltd were also geared towards achieving these priorities. The Minister however called for more sensitization for operators and users as well as more collaboration between sector regulators and industry players to ensure consolidation of the achievements.

NNRA is a major player in the oil and gas sector, regulating the use of radioactive material in Nuclear Well Logging (NWL), non –destructive testing, radio-tracing and differential flow measurements. It also provides seamless authorization and oversight on the use of radioactive material in this sector.

The DG/CEO NNRA, who was ably represented by the General Manager, Nuclear Safety, Physical Security and Safe-Guards, Dr. Nasiru-Deen Bello led the NNRA team to the event.
