NIGERIA ADVANCES REGULATORY FRAMEWORK FOR RESEARCH REACTORS WITH EU-INSC SUPPORT

NNRA has taken a significant stride towards strengthening Nigeria’s regulatory framework for research reactors as it holds a specialized workshop organized under the EU-funded Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation (INSC) project from February 24 to 28, 2025 in Abuja.

Task Group 4 of the EU-INSC initiative focuses on refining regulatory strategies, aligning with global best practices, and ensuring the safe and effective use of research reactors in Nigeria.

Dr. Yau Idris, Director General/CEO of the NNRA, at the opening ceremony, emphasized the importance of a robust regulatory structure in advancing nuclear research and technological development, prioritizing safety and security.

He further stated that the workshop paves the way for improved oversight and operational efficiency in the sector.
