KWARA OPERATIONAL OFFICE CONDUCTS COMPLIANCE INSPECTION

Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) is committed to ensuring safe application of all equipments that emits ionizing radiation, thereby protecting life, health and property from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. To further accomplish this mandate, the Kwara Operational Office of the NNRA carried out a compliance inspection from 10th- 30th March, 2021 on the under listed facilities in Kogi and Kwara states

  • Poly Hospital and Maternity Home, Lokoja
  • Federal Medical Centre Lokoja
  • A4 Medical Centre, Lokoja
  • Niger Clinics, Lokoja
  • Kam Industries Nigeria  Ltd, Ilorin

The  inspection was carried out to ascertain the level of  compliance of the visited facilities in line with the requirement of the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Act (Act 19 of 1995); the Nigerian Basic Ionizing Radiation Regulation 2003(NiBRR) and the Nigerian Radiation Safety in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Regulation 2006.

The compliance inspection is to ensure that exposure to ionizing radiation is as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) to patients and operators of facilities in the country.
