EU-NNRA COLLABORATES ON EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE TRAINING IN NIGERIA

The European Union's International Nuclear Safety Cooperation project enhances the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority's (NNRA) capacity and capabilities. Task Group 3.2 convened a training session on Emergency Preparedness and Response in Abuja, Nigeria, from November 18-22, 2024. This initiative is part of the EU's global efforts to promote nuclear safety. 

Dr. Yau Idris, DG/CEO of NNRA, who was represented by Mr. Mathias Vyonku, General Manager of Admin and Human Resources welcomed experts from the EU and urged participants to leverage on the experts' experience from Finland and integrate their best practices into Nigeria's nuclear regulatory framework.

Lead Expert Mikano Markkanen expressed enthusiasm in sharing Finland's expertise and looks forward to learning from NNRA's regulatory architecture. He anticipates productive discussions and knowledge sharing at the training. 

The opening ceremony of the one-week training was attended by management and staff both from the headquarters and zonal offices.
