DIRECTOR GENERAL/CEO OF NIMASA PAYS COURTESY VIST TO NNRA

The Director General/CEO of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Dakuku Peterside paid a courtesy visit to the Management and Staff of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) at the Headquarters in Abuja on the 30th January, 2020.

The visit was to collaborate and strengthen the relationship between the two government agencies to ensure the safety of the Nigerian people through monitoring and tracking of batches to mitigate against risk associated with radioactive and other dangerous substances to make our waterways safe.

Dr. Dakuku Peterside, in his opening remarks commended the NNRA for living by her primary mandate of ensuring best practices on the use of ionizing radiation, protection of lives and property. He said the two agencies share common interest with cross curtain functions as Regulatory bodies of the Federal Republic of Nigeria hence the need to work closely for the greater benefit of the country.

In response, the Acting Director General/CEO, Dr. Yau Idris-Usman said NIMASA’s visit showed a high level of responsibility and willingness to collaborate with the NNRA. He said the NNRA is looking forward to working closely with the Agency to achieve high standard of regulatory control and safety.

Highlight of the visit was a proposal to set up an interagency committee that will work out an action plan in the area of collaboration and implementation.

The visit was attended by the Acting DG/CEO of NNRA and his Management team.
