DG NNRA MAKES A WALK-IN VISIT TO THE NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE (NCS) HEAD QUARTERS

The Director General/ CEO Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), Dr Yau Usman Idris and his Management Team, paid a courtesy visit to the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) on Tuesday 15^th March, 2022 at NCS Headquarters, Abuja.

The objective of the meeting was to consolidate on the already established working relationship between the two government agencies in the control of import and export as well as safety and security of radiation sources in Nigeria

Dr Yau Idris in his speech, gave assurances of the Authority’s commitment towards creating an enabling environment for a mutually and beneficial relationship between the two government agencies especially in the area of strengthening detection capabilities and exchange of information on import and export of radioactive material amongst others.

The Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) in his response, promised to consolidate the already established collaboration with NNRA in the areas; of

• Capacity building
• Enhancing a digital interface between the two agencies and
• Resolving all HS codes related issues

He further assured the gathering that NCS will always adhere to the general procedure for obtaining necessary certification and the usage of Non-intrusive inspection equipment (scanners) in line with the regulatory framework of NNRA.
