DG/CEO NNRA ATTENDS THE TECHNICAL MEETING OF NUCLEAR FORENSIC

NNRA delegation led by the DG/CEO Dr Yau Idris attended the IAEA organised Technical Meeting on Nuclear Forensics: From National Foundations to Global Impact taking place at the Vienna International Centre, Vienna, Austria from 11-14 April 2022.

The Delegation had side meeting with the Netherlands Delegation led by its Ambassador while the Ambassador of Nigeria to Austria, His Excellency Dauda Sulaiman Umar led the Nigerian Team.

The NNRA also had another meeting with a Team from the The United States Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence of the National Nuclear Security Administration led by Ms Erica Wolf

The objective of the meeting focused on the application of nuclear forensics in response to incidents involving nuclear and other radioactive materials out of regulatory control. It also will demonstrate links to radiological crime scene management, give support to potential judicial proceedings and highlight States' experience in utilizing nuclear forensics for the prevention and response to nuclear security events.

The meeting addressed recent statements in the General Conference Resolutions supporting the development and widest possible implementation of nuclear forensics and radiological crime scene management among Member State partners.
