CHINESE XI’AN NUCLEAR EQUIPMENT CO.LIMITED SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH NNRA

The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) received a delegation from Xi’an Nuclear Equipment Co. Ltd at its Headquarters on 4^th July 2024.

Xi’an Nuclear Equipment Co Limited is a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), a company responsible for manufacturing security systems like nuclear radiation monitoring systems and equipment, fire alarms, firefighting systems and equipment, physical protection systems, and others used in the nuclear industry.

The visit aimed at collaborating with NNRA in achieving a successful operation in various activities in the sector such as fostering economic development, enhancing infrastructure, providing industrial services, and promoting sustainable nuclear and radiological practices in Nigeria.

Speaking during the visit, the DG/CEO NNRA, Dr. Yau Idris put the delegation through the regulatory functions of the Authority especially the issuing of licenses, authorization, and enforcement. He said that NNRA is open to collaborating with the company and encouraged them to comply with the requirements of nuclear safety, security, and safeguards as this will enhance the protection of people and the environment from the potential hazards associated with ionizing radiation.

The head of the delegation, Mr. Ding Zhengbizo appreciated the DG and his team for a warm reception and promised the company’s full compliance with the regulatory requirements of NNRA and hoped for a sustainable collaboration with the authority.
