ASSOCIATION OF RADIOLOGIST IN NIGERIA (ARIN) PAID COURTESY VISIT TO NNRA

The Executives of the Association of Radiologist in Nigeria (ARIN), the umbrella body of all Radiologists in Nigeria, was received by the Management of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) on a courtesy visit on 8th November, 2021 at the NNRA Headquarters, Abuja.

Dr. Nasiru Bello, the General Manager, Nuclear Safety, Physical Security and Safeguards who represented the DG/CEO NNRA Dr. Yau Idris welcomed the ARIN team and remarked that, it is NNRA’s policy to always attend to its stakeholders even at short notices so as to partner effectively at all times for the overall interest of the Country. He stated the mandate and responsibilities of the Authority in line with the provisions of the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Act, No. 19 of 1995.

The President of ARIN, Professor S.A Saidu, stated the objective of the meeting as seeking more collaborative effort with NNRA in the effective regulation of the safe use of radioactive sources. He expressed the Association’s concerns regarding the non-decentralization of the Radiation Safety Officers (RSO) Training Courses on Diagnostic Interventional Radiology at the National Institute and the licensing fees for renewal of ionizing radiation sources in the hospitals.

The representative of the DG/CEO reiterated the Authority’s commitment to ensure greater synergy is achieved with the Association and urged them to always keep the Authority abreast of any issues and concerns.

The meeting was attended by Prof. S. A Saidu, President of ARIN; Prof. Musa Tambari, Chief Medical Doctor, Barau Dikko Hospital Kaduna; Dr. Feyisayo Daji, Treasurer ARIN; Dr. O. O Wellington, Vice President ARIN, Abuja Zone and members of NNRA Management team.
