NIGERIAN NUCLEAR REGULATORY AUTHORITY (NNRA) PLAYED HOST TO NIGERIA CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY (NCAA)

The DG/CEO NNRA, Dr. Yau Idris, received the DG/CEO of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Musa Shuaibu in his office on the 1st of September, 2023 in Abuja.

The visit resulted in the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MU) to ensure the absolute protection of life, property and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation during air transport of nuclear and radiation sources. Nigeria is number one in Africa in terms of import and export of nuclear and radioactive sources.

The MoU is part of the requirements by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) who are currently in Nigeria to assess air transport infrastructure.

ICAO was created in 1944 by the Chicago Convention to promote the safe and orderly development of civil aviation around the world. The organization sets standards and regulations necessary for aviation safety, security, efficiency, and regularity, as well as for aviation environmental protection
