SECOND NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SAFETY, SECURITY AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE USE OF NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY IN THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY HOLDS IN LAGOS

The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) is hosting the Second National Workshop on Safety, Security, and Regulatory Requirements for the Use of Nuclear Technology in the Oil and Gas Industry. This two-day workshop, which is taking place at Vertigo Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, from the 9th and 10th December, 2024 aims to address the challenges and prospects in the application of nuclear technology in the oil and gas industry.

The workshop is a follow-up to the first one held in June 2019, and focuses on ensuring effective regulatory control throughout the lifecycle phase of nuclear technology applications which includes importation, storage, usage, transportation, and final disposal.

The DG/CEO of NNRA, Dr. Yau Idris welcomed participants and emphasized the need for continued compliance with NNRA’s regulatory control regime and urged them to continue strengthening the security of radioactive materials in their operations.

Over the years, NNRA has actively promoted nuclear safety and security in Nigeria through targeted workshops and training of its staff and key stakeholders.

A total of One hundred (100) participants from various organizations involved in the use of nuclear technology in the oil and gas industry are expected to participate in this 2-day workshop.
