The Head of the NNRA   Operational Office Jos, Mr. Vontau Nimkur Timkat, made a presentation during the NNRA Weekly In-Seminar on 24th September 2025. The NNRA Plateau Office, which officially commenced operations in March 2023 was specifically established to handle the regulation of mining activities. According to Mr. Timkat, the Jos office has successfully brought hundreds mining companies and medical facilities under regulatory control.

The NNRA Office in Jos was able to conduct 330 inspections across various practices, and fostered strong collaboration with security agencies and other government bodies. These efforts have strengthened compliance in the mining sector, expanded regulatory oversight of medical facilities, and enhanced public safety. He also presented his concern over the extremely high radiation dose rate they are measuring which values go as much as 150 micro Sievert and up to 220 micro Sievert. Mr Timkat sought the collaboration of the NNRA, Ecological Fund Office, Federal Ministry of Health and the Plateau State Government in tackling these dangerous issues of high radiation dose in the vicinity of the public.

While highlighting these milestones, he also noted persistent challenges such as increased resources, timely funding, provision of equipment, and capacity-building opportunities to further boost efficiency. Finally he expressed appreciation to Management for the establishment of the office, its support and recent office renovations.
