NNRA ORGANISES A FIVE DAY REFRESHER TRAINING COURSE FOR REGULATORY OFFICERS

The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) through Innovative Global Solution (IGS) organized a 5-day refresher training course for regulatory officers titled “Authorization Procedures and Regulatory Requirements for Industrial Applications” in Abuja, from 5th to 9th September, 2022.

The training was geared towards building competence and expertise needed by the Staff of the Authority for the continuous operation of adequate regulatory programme for the safety and security of deployed nuclear technology in Nigeria.

This, it aims to achieve through the use of radiation sources in industrial application for Industrial Radiography Nuclear Gauging, Nuclear Well Logging in accordance with the Act extant Regulations and in line with current International best practices.

The representative of the DG/CEO, Dr Nasirudeen Bello General Manager (GM), Department of Nuclear Safety, Physical Security and Safeguards (NS) at the training conveyed the DG’s compliments to the participants and urged them to take the training serious. The GM (NS) also expressed his enthusiasm of what is expected from the training which boarders around Authorization and Enforcement, accident, in radiography. He further stated that, this refresher course is mandatory towards building and grooming competent and confident Regulatory Inspectors.

40 Participants were drawn from the NNRA Headquarters and the six Zonal office of the Authority.

The training ended on Friday 9^th September, 2022 with an assessment test covering all modules undertaken during the training and all participants awarded Certificates of attendance.
