NNRA NORTH-EAST ZONE GOMBE PRESENTS KEY ACHIEVEMENTS AT WEEKLY IN-HOUSE SEMINAR

At the NNRA weekly in-house seminar held on August 20, 2025, the Coordinator of North-East Zonal Office Gombe, Mr. Yusuf Baba Tanko, highlighted the Zone’s remarkable achievements for the 2023/2024 period.

Key Achievements include carrying out 82 inspections of facilities and activities using nuclear and radioactive sources in the oil sector (the Kolmani River Drilling Site), Health sectors (X-Ray, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine) Mining companies and X-Ray Scanners (Airports, Banks and hotels) generating about 50 million Naira.

Mr Tanko also talked on the Strengthened Partnerships and Collaboration with the Gombe and Bauchi State Hospital Management Boards, as well as the State Ministries of Mines and Steel Development.

On Capacity Building the zone was able to conduct 22 seminars and several staff participated in both national and international trainings.

The zone also carried out Enforcement Actions by sealing up some noncompliant hospitals such as Al-Ameen Hospital and Ni’ima Consultant Hospital in Bauchi State.

Mr. Yusuf commended the dedication and teamwork of NEZO staff, noting that these achievements reflect the Zone’s resilience, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to nuclear and radiation safety in the North-East.
