NNRA MEETS WITH NAEC ON TECHNOLOGICAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF NIGERIA THROUGH THE USE OF NUCLEAR ENERGY

The DG/CEO and some Management team of NNRA met with the Nigerian Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) leadership today to discuss very critical issues of National Development through the use of Nuclear Technology.

The discussions centered basically on Nigeria's commitment to the global efforts to address Climate Change and emphasize the critical role of clean and sustainable technologies while addressing Nigeria's energy demand in tandem with nuclear energy, thus contributing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's realization of the Sustainable Development Goal 7.

Both NNRA and NAEC deliberated on the need to endorse Nigeria's commitment and desire to access international development financing for Nigeria’s Sustainable in the Energy Sector.

The agencies agreed to see to the completion and validation of the Nuclear Energy Policy and other policies for Nigeria, and also planned to have a national summit involving all stakeholders to prepare a solid landscape for Nigeria's Nuclear Energy Transition Programme.

The meeting marked the beginning of a formidable partnership for Nigeria's success to achieve a promising pathway to secure low-carbon, dependable electricity that can drive industrialization, food security by irradiation, increase energy availability and reduce greenhouse emissions for sustainable National Development.
