NNRA HOSTS DELEGATION FROM THE WORLD INSTITUTE FOR NUCLEAR SECURITY (WINS)

The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), today welcomed a delegation from the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) on a courtesy visit to its headquarters in Abuja. The visit was part of WINS’ broader engagement in Nigeria, aimed at enhancing collaboration with key stakeholders and institutions involved in nuclear safety and security.

The NNRA management led by Mr Audu Mohammed, General Manager, Nuclear Research Reactor Safety and Safeguards Department, warmly received the delegation and expressed appreciation for WINS’ continued support in advancing global best practices in nuclear security. Discussions during the visit centered on strengthening cooperation in critical areas such as capacity building, regulatory framework development and insider threat mitigation.

The WINS delegation led by its Executive Director, Dr Lars Van Dassen, commended the NNRA for its sustained efforts in maintaining a robust regulatory environment and reaffirmed WINS’ commitment to supporting the Authority through technical assistance, training initiatives, and knowledge exchange.

Both organizations reaffirmed their shared objectives and explored avenues for future partnerships that will further contribute to the safe and secure application of nuclear technology in Nigeria.
