NIGERIAN NUCLEAR REGULATORY AUTHORITY WELCOMES EU EXPERTS TO REVIEW INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION.

The Nigeria Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) in collaboration with EU Experts a hosted a Five (5) day work meeting to review and finalize its Integrated Management System (IMS) documentation. The meeting held from the 23rd to 27th September 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Director-Genera/CEO, NNRA, Dr Yau Idris welcomed the EU Experts, Ms. Darja Slokan Dusic and Ms. Vesna Logar-Zorn, expressed confidence in their wealth of experience. The experts assisted the NNRA in reviewing and developing necessary IMS documentation thereby enhancing NNRA’s regulatory framework.

The meeting is part of the EU-INSC Project "Increase Capacity and Capabilities of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority, NG3.01/22" (INSCI2023/446-831) which aimed to enhance the NNRA's capacity to fulfill its regulatory mandate by reviewing and finalizing the IMS documentation as well as develop necessary policies, processes, and procedures to protect people, health, and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.

The DG further emphasized that NNRA management's commitment to supporting the finalization, approval, and implementation of the IMS document to strengthen its regulatory capabilities and carry out their functions effectively

The lead Expert Ms Darja, expressed enthusiasm for the project and their dedication to improving NNRA capacity to effectively regulate the nuclear industry reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to upholding international standards in nuclear safety.

The work meeting was attended by the NNRA management team, and staff from different departments of the NNRA.
