The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) on Wednesday 19th February 2020 received a team from TOTAL Nigeria Limited to a brief meeting at its headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting was to strengthen the existing relationship between the two organizations.

A presentation was done by TOTAL on the relevant NNRA Permits/Licenses which they require to enable them carry out their services effectively. These permits include:

  1. Drilling well permit
  2. Premises Registration for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
  3. Premises Registration for Nuclear Gauges
  4. Use and operation Nuclear Gauges
  5. Premises Registration for X-ray Medical
  6. License to use/operate X-ray Medical
  7. Premises Registration for luggage scanners
  8. License to use/operate luggage scanners

Furthermore, a representative from the TOTAL appreciated the Ag. DG/CEO for the kind reception and applauded the effort of the NNRA in discharging its duties diligently and for prompt response as regards issuance of licenses and permit certificates. He called for a continuous partnership between the NNRA and TOTAL soliciting for a continuous cordial working relationship with NNRA.

The Acting DG/CEO NNRA Dr. Yau Idris while responding assured the team of NNRA’s continual support in discharging its mandate. To that effect he added that NNRA is ready to issue licenses to facilities that meet the requirement for safe application of nuclear technology. He urged the team to ensure they follow due processes when seeking for licenses or permits and advised that applications should always be made in good time, so as to avail NNRA enough time to process them for speedy delivery.
