NNRA Organizes a Geographical Information System Training (GIS), September 2019.


The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority in partnership with the Mahadi Services and Resources Center, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria is organizing a 2 weeks hands-on Geographical Information Systems (GIS) training for NNRA Staff in Abuja at the NNRA Headquarters.

The training is put together for participants to learn the application of Geographical Information Systems in line with the NNRA’s regulatory functions and the enhancement of regulatory capacity.

The Acting Director General/CEO of the NNRA, Dr. Yau Usman-Idris, welcomed the visiting resource persons and urged Staff to take advantage of the training as GIS will give the NNRA an opportunity to take stock of radioactive materials scattered around the country as well track their locations to ascertain accurate data and information.

Professor Edwin O. Iguisi of the Centre for Disaster Risk Management at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria explained that different resources and experiences acquired over the years would be shared during the training.

The training Coordinator, Mallam Adamu M. Hussaini who is also the Acting General Manager, Authorization & Enforcement of the NNRA urged participants to pay attention to the lectures and be prepared for the exams which will follow at the end.

The participants include the Acting DG/CEO, his management team, NNRA Staff from Kano, SWZO, SEZO, SSZO, NEZO and Abuja. The facilitators are from the Mahadi Services & Resources Center, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
